Lean Irish Fiddle with me!
Blayne Chastain, longtime friend and collaborator has produced online courses in Irish flute, whistle, bodhrán, piano … and now fiddle! We spent a week in Greeley, CO recording nearly 9 hours of teaching content. There are four stand alone courses, levels 1-4, for the true beginner to the advanced.
A bit about my teaching: When I was a kid my mother constantly had fiddle students coming and going from our house and when old enough I began teaching some of her overflow. I didn’t grow up playing Irish fiddle (though many Irish tunes were a part of the contest and bluegrass fiddle repertoire that I was raised on), I was introduced to it in 2007 and have been hooked ever since. Learning the genre as a young adult and teacher allowed me to learn the musical nuances in a different, more intentional way than the fiddle styles I grew up with. Combined with my background as a classical violinist these courses cover technique, posture, how to learn by ear, ornamentation, bowings and creating effective practice routines.
